Flour Power

Flour Power is a bakery that empowers people with special needs by equipping them with baking and other productive occupational skills such as customer service.

It was founded in April 2016 by former corporate marketer Ms Lena Ng after a six month volunteer expedition to Thailand and Cambodia inspired her to help the special needs community. She found that back in Singapore, individuals with special needs above 18 years old have difficulty finding employment so she decided to do something about it.

In a Straits Times feature in Aug 2017, Ms Ng said, “We train kids (aged 18 and older) with special needs to bake so that they will have skills that can be used in the food and beverage industry, and find jobs that will give them a sustainable future.” You can read more about her journey here.

Flour Power sells a delightful array of yummy bakes – both online order or at their walk-in store. Anything from cakes, to quiche, cupcakes, muffins, tarts, pie and even a sea salt dark chocolate cake. Check out their website for the full range. They also organise bakery classes for groups and individuals, and welcome individual or corporate orders with customised branding.
